Gillette Venus® #ChooseToSmooth #GotItFree

I really need to start writing more. Many things have gone on that has kept me from writing. Mostly studying for my A+ certification. More on that later. I have been using Influenster for about four years now, though due to unfortunate circumstances I have never been able to really get involved with it. If anyone doesn’t know what Influenster is, it is a website/app that one can review products. The more active you are, you can receive what is called a “Vox Box” of different products to where you can test and  review them as you wish or advertise them on social media.

I received my first Vox Box, (as I said, I received these products complimentary from Influenster for testing purposes). Which is really cool, except for the fact that I use an electric razor instead of a regular one. After having kids it’s just faster to use the electric one. I did have a friend use this and I later used it to see how I like it aside from my electric razor. I received the Gillette Venus Swirl Women’s Razor Handle with 2 Razor Blade Refills. From research (meaning Google), the Gillette Venus Swirl with 2 blades is around $12 while the one blade is around $9. My friend loves the razor. She has thick, course hair and was happy that it didn’t take much pressure to shave. She said the blades worked fairly quickly.

Then I decided to use it. This has been the first time in about 15 years that I’ve used a regular razor. I don’t even own any shaving cream. The blades; and there are five blades. Five blades! I’m so used to two or three. Anywho, these five blades have a lotion bar that I’ve seen on other blades. It works well, although I’m not sure how long that would last and I’ve always been afraid to shave without some sort of shaving cream. I did end up using a friend’s Dr. Carver’s Easy Shave Butter, which is pretty amazing. The smell was good and after I looked at the ingredients I’m happy to report that I did not have an allergic reaction to the ananas sativus (pineapple extract). Yes, I’m mildly allergic to pineapples. I should look at the ingredients first, though I have never seen pineapple to be an ingredient in really any beauty product. Unless it actually says “pineapple” somewhere on the packaging.

Carrying on. The razor glided on well. Not too much pressure and easy to maneuver around the knees and ankles. The metal swivel ball, while nifty looking, does not seem to do much in movement. As I recall from my past razor usage, some blades have that slight side to side movement as well. Glad to see that I did not nick myself with this razor as I was fearing from the beginning.

All in all, I give this a four out of five stars. Replacement blades are pricey. I found a six-count for blades at Amazon for $25. I know I haven’t used a regular razor in a while, but it seems a bit high. I would definitely keep this in mind if I decide to start using regular razors again or feel that I need a backup razor.
