I went back to sleep this morning and woke up around 10 a.m. After only getting about four hours of rest the previous night, I struggled with heartburn for most of the night and ended up sleeping in a seated position. I had been snacking yesterday and had dinner quite late, which likely contributed to my discomfort. I take heartburn medication every day to manage my chronic condition.
This morning, I had several tasks to complete. I contacted the bank and printed out Lexi’s bank statement for her taxes, as the state tax department needed to review her taxes before disbursing what was owed to her. Additionally, I called the bank to request a letter for Lexi’s health insurance. I reached the girls’ financial advisor’s voicemail and left a message, and I plan to follow up with another call later today.
Last weekend was quite busy. On Friday, Karissa and I ventured into the city with Kel, who dropped us off at the mall while she ran some errands. Karissa and I decided to start our outing at the café in Barnes and Noble. She offered to buy me a book, but I declined, as I already had it on hold at the library. I enjoyed a small coffee and a scone while we chatted.
After our coffee break, we spent about an hour and a half exploring the mall. We browsed through Sephora, Bath and Body Works, various clothing stores, and Sees Candy, all without spending a dime! Karissa is diligently saving her money, and I didn’t have much to spend.
Once we had wandered for a while, we decided to grab a drink at a taco restaurant in the mall, where we spent about an hour. Since Kel was scheduled to pick us up around 2:30, we had some time to spare. However, we quickly grew tired of sitting and ended up walking around the mall again until it was time for Kel to arrive.
At Costco, we visited the hearing aid center and waited for her appointment at 3:30. It turned out that her hearing aid was malfunctioning, so they sent it out for repairs. We should have it back in a week, and the cost will be $130—ouch! However, it’s still more affordable than purchasing an entirely new hearing aid. I was initially concerned that they might not be able to fix it since they don’t carry her current brand, so I’m relieved that wasn’t the case.
After work, Tommy picked Karissa and me up from Costco, having finished his shift a bit early. Once we arrived home, Tommy and I grabbed our suitcase and headed to Lexi’s school. This was our last trip there unless we needed to drive Karissa at a later time. We reached our hotel around 9 PM.
We woke up around 5:45 am in preparation for Alexis’s honors breakfast, scheduled for 7:30. The breakfast was quite enjoyable, featuring a buffet that was slightly on the cold side, but overall good. The ceremony lasted until 9 am. Afterward, we took some pictures outside before heading to the arena for the graduation. Kel and Karissa arrived a little before 10, just in time for the ceremony, which was lovely. We attended the reception afterward to capture more photos.
Once graduation concluded, we gathered at Alexis’s dorm and ordered pizza. After eating, we began moving her out of the dorm. Fortunately, the weather was pleasant this time, which was a nice change since it had always been rainy during her previous moves, including Tommy’s graduation a few years back. We loaded the truck, and after Kel and Karissa headed home, Tommy and I stayed behind to wait for Alexis to finish checking out. We arrived home just before 7 pm, and Alex and Karissa helped Alexis unpack the truck.
Sunday turned out to be a lovely Mother’s Day. Tommy and I started the day with a workout. Afterward, Kel, Tommy, and I visited a friend’s house to celebrate. We enjoyed some time by the pool and had lunch together. We also made progress on our plans for the cruise, though we encountered some frustration with the Versailles tickets. I’m confident we’ll sort that out. We returned home around 9:30 PM, after which I prepared Tommy’s lunch before heading to bed.
Today is another beautiful day, with temperatures reaching a warm 79 degrees. The girls are engrossed in their video games while I focus on some coding. I just finished lunch, which consisted of Hawaiian chicken and rice. Although I had only a small portion, I feel surprisingly full—something I don’t particularly enjoy. To alleviate the bloated feeling, I took some Tums.
Now, back to coding. I need to write a function that creates a deep copy of an object, including its nested properties, without resorting to structuredClone() or JSON.parse(JSON.stringify(…)). This task seems reminiscent of another function I worked on previously, so I’m going to review some resources on the subject for a bit.
I called the girls’ financial advisor and got in touch with his assistant. Hopefully, I’ll receive an email soon so that I can print it out and send it to Lexi’s health insurance.
At the moment, I’m doing laundry and need to put the clothes away soon. I’m also in the market for a new bag or mini backpack for everyday use. It’s challenging because I want something that looks nice, but I also need it to be ergonomic. Unfortunately, many women’s bags either lack ergonomic support or are quite expensive. For now, I’m just carrying my wallet in my pocket. Lol.
