I can’t reschedule Karissa’s appointment. Let me start from the beginning. Karissa received a call from the cardiology center informing her that her appointment had been canceled due to the need for a new provider. I’m guessing the doctor she was originally scheduled to see is no longer working there. We called them back today, and Karissa spoke with them, resulting in her appointment being rescheduled for October. I was planning to reschedule, that appointment, but Tommy mentioned that he can take time off to take us both. As I said, I couldn’t reschedule that appointment anyway.
What’s puzzling, though, is that the cardiology center indicated that Karissa’s appointment is for a different type of consultation within the cardiology department. I’m unclear about what they mean by a different appointment. Are they saying they canceled her cardiology appointment and gave her another appointment in the department for no reason at all? After all, she has been scheduled and rescheduled for cardiology appointments throughout this entire year, and they haven’t seen her yet. They have been canceling her appointment since March. We rescheduled four times. So, I’m left wondering what has changed regarding the type of appointment she now has. I suppose we’ll find out in October.
It’s 11 AM, and I’m just beginning my day and settling in for some coding. I’ve been restless this morning trying to work through Karissa’s cardiology. I want to start packing, but I need to prioritize some coding first. Additionally, I should go through my shirts and sock drawers, as they’re overflowing—so much so that they can barely close. I need to decide what I’ll be bringing on my trip.
I intended to write last Thursday, but I got sidetracked. Karissa had a dentist appointment for a cleaning, while Alexis had a doctor’s appointment for her medication refill. Fortunately, both appointments were in the same building, which made things much easier. Interestingly, Alexis’s doctor happens to be her former hockey coach.
We began the day by visiting Kel’s dad’s house before heading to the girls’ appointments. After that, we went to Smith’s to grab some Starbucks, where both Karissa and Alexis treated themselves to drinks. For lunch, Karissa, Alexis, and Alex decided on McDonald’s, with Alexis covering Alex’s meal. Later, the two of them headed to Walmart to pick up ingredients for spaghetti. Since Tommy had band practice that evening, Alex wanted to make dinner for everyone.
After running those errands, we returned home, and since it was already quite late, I settled in to watch YouTube for a bit. Later on, I played Final Fantasy XIV, tackling the Pandaemonium quests, which involve a series of 12 boss fights. I managed to finish the quests, not too badly, but I was definitely exhausted by the end. On Saturday, Tommy watched as I attempted a dungeon; unfortunately, my performance during the last boss fight was terrible. I struggled and kept dying—it was honestly the worst I had ever done in a dungeon.
On Friday, Tommy and I started the day with his dentist appointment in the morning. After that, we made a quick trip to Costco, as we needed to be efficient with our time since Tommy had therapy scheduled for noon. We spent a little time at home, during which Tommy played Flight Simulator while I enjoyed Final Fantasy XIV. Later, we headed to Walgreens to pick up his medication. We then treated ourselves to a medium Chocolate Extreme Blizzard at Dairy Queen, which we shared. Finally, we went to Walmart to gather ingredients for street tacos, as Chris was coming over that evening and had requested them for dinner.
On Saturday, Tommy and I accompanied Chris back to his dorm before heading to the Pro Bass Shop, where we browsed for a while. Next, we visited a signage shop to have Tommy fitted for his new hockey jersey; they will customize it with his name and number on the back. Tommy will be playing hockey every Sunday throughout the season. After that, we stopped by Trader Joe’s to pick up some cheese and crackers for Sunday.
On Sunday, we gathered at a friend’s house to finalize more plans for our trip. We also enjoyed swimming and playing a board game that I really liked. I came close to winning, finishing in second place. After dinner, Tommy and I set off for his hockey game, while Kel left shortly after to go home. She drove separately, as she needed to get to bed early for work the next day.
The kids are particularly energetic today, all gathered in the kitchen chatting away. I have a two-hour therapy appointment scheduled for later, which will involve a yearly assessment where I’ll be answering questions for the entire duration. That’s a challenging task for me! While some people find it easy to talk, I struggle with it. My laptop currently has only 25% battery, but I’ve plugged it in to charge. I’ll likely keep it plugged in during my appointment.
Alexis has a doctor’s appointment tomorrow morning, and this entire two-week stretch is packed with appointments! Tommy will have a doctor’s visit next week, along with Alexis. In the meantime, I plan to get some coding done before my therapy session.
Therapy is done for now. My next appointment is next month after the trip. Wow, that session took quite a while—two hours, to be exact. I went through a lot of questions; the therapist mentioned it was just over 200 in total. It wasn’t too overwhelming, but by the end, I was definitely feeling a bit fatigued from all the answering. Now, I’m going to make myself some hot tea and unwind with some YouTube.
