Around 10 a.m., I always get hungry. The problem is, I still have two hours to wait until lunch. I’m making some hot tea to hold me over. I’ve already had two cups of coffee, and I don’t think my stomach would appreciate another.
I boiled some eggs for my lunchtime ramen, which I’ve been thinking about all morning. Lunch finally arrived, and it was worth the wait. I don’t eat ramen often because of the high sodium, but every now and then, it hits the spot. I don’t even have a strong reason to avoid salt—I just don’t like too much of it.
On another note, a book came in at the library today: Summer in the City. A fitting choice since it’s still technically summer, even though it’s starting to feel like fall. I don’t know much about it other than that it takes place in New York City during the summer, but a friend recommended it, so I thought I’d give it a try. My Kindle is charging now, though it’s finicky—the cable has to be angled just right before it decides to work. Unfortunately, I don’t have another micro cable, so this one will have to do.
Most of my morning was spent coding, but I also got caught up in the cybersecurity book I started reading. I had to set it down so I wouldn’t lose the entire day to it. For now, I’m using a discount card from the Pen Boutique as a bookmark. I never really buy bookmarks since I usually read on my Kindle, but there’s something special about holding a physical book. I just don’t buy them often—between limited space and library access, borrowing makes more sense.
I haven’t added many books to my reading journal—mostly because I haven’t been reading much. I’m thinking about turning it into more of a media journal instead. Maybe I could include things I’ve watched, like anime or TV shows. To be fair, I haven’t watched much TV lately. The last show I watched was the first episode of Outlander. It’s a good show, but we never continued it. Honestly, we do that sometimes—watch the first episode of a show or anime and then move on. It might be interesting to write down all the shows we started but didn’t finish… if I can even remember them.
I’ve been wanting to make a binder of my grandma’s old recipes. The only problem is, I have no idea where they are—or even where to start looking. That’s definitely a task for future me.
I just realized how late it’s getting. Earlier, I made myself a matcha tea, which was really good. Kel also gave me her Starbucks Blueberry Lemonade Refresher to try. It was alright—not exactly refreshing, but still tasty. I’m wrapping up coding for the day now. I still have some clothes to put away, so maybe I’ll tackle that next.
Tomorrow, Alexis has a doctor’s appointment in the morning, so we’ll be busy with that. I’ll try to get a journal entry out, even though I tend to skip writing when I’m out and about. I’ve noticed that about myself. But I’m going to make an effort to write tomorrow.
