I don’t always have a lot of confidence in myself when it comes to computers. Even though I actually know quite a bit—things that many average users wouldn’t—I still find myself feeling incompetent at times. Take this morning, for example. I needed to scan something, which normally wouldn’t be an issue, except my keyboard wasn’t working, so I had to use my laptop instead. It’s an Apple, and I’m not as familiar with it as I am with Windows, plus I had never scanned anything on it before. I felt so nervous that I almost didn’t want to try, convinced I wouldn’t be able to figure it out.
But I sat down, gave it a shot, and within a few minutes, I had it scanned. Honestly, it was easier than I expected—maybe even easier than Windows. The funny thing is, I tend to psych myself out when it comes to computers, telling myself they’re too complicated or that I won’t understand them. Yet time and time again, I prove myself wrong. So why do I do this to myself?
I started a poolish this morning—a bread starter that should be ready by 4, though I can also let it ferment for up to 24 hours. I just hope the jar I used is big enough for it to rise properly. My plan is to bake a rustic loaf, but first I need to pick up some whole wheat flour and more bread flour since I’m almost out. I also need a tea towel for the final proofing. I’ll be baking the bread in a Dutch oven, which I’ve never tried before, and I’m really excited to see how it turns out.
Kel should be home soon, and then we need to go to the post office and store. Alexis called about her medication—the pharmacy said it’s ready, so I’ll pick that up while I’m out.
Actually, Kel already went to the post office, so I just have the store left on my list. The kids want Chinese food, but I told them they’ll have to pay for it themselves.
Karissa picked up some pork lo mein for me. I had a little and put the rest in the fridge. Tommy isn’t feeling well, so he’s on his way home. At least he has tomorrow off to rest. I forgot to buy a tea towel. I wonder if we have some in the house. Tonight, I plan to watch some YouTube videos and read for a bit.
