Alex wants to try the new Oreo Reese’s Blizzard at Dairy Queen. He was about to take the girls but I told him it’s probably not open. I’m not sure what Dairy Queen’s hours are, but I’m pretty sure they don’t serve breakfast, so it wouldn’t be open this early. Karissa said she’ll get a Dilly Bar since it’s non-dairy. I just want the mail. I told Alex to grab it later when they head out.
I also ordered slippers from Kohl’s, but the package has been stuck in pre-shipment for a month. I finally contacted Kohl’s, explained the issue, and informed them that I had never received my order. They replaced the slippers for me, and the new pair should arrive by next Friday. Thankfully, it’s the same style I originally ordered—I was worried they’d be out of stock, but they still had them available.
Another library hold just came in — The House of My Mother. It’s a memoir about growing up in the Franke family, the very public family behind the YouTube channel 8 Passengers, known for documenting life with six kids under a strict, highly moral parenting style. It sounds interesting. The only problem? I now have three books to get through in just a month. At least I’m almost finished with Wordslut.
I turned on email notifications on my computer. At first, it seemed cool, but now it’s starting to get on my nerves. I don’t mind notifications in general, but email alerts are different—there’s just too much junk mail. Meanwhile, I’ve got Karissa helping with the laundry since I’m busy coding. She handles the washer and dryer, and I take care of folding and putting everything away.
I have no idea what I’m doing this weekend, and honestly, I’m okay with that. Maybe we will work on my new desk. We are done with the bottom; now we need to flip the table over and work on the top. The weather has been cooling down, the air feels crisp, and everything is starting to feel more like Autumn. Cozy sweaters, blankets, and maybe a warm drink sound like the right kind of plan. Sometimes it’s nice to have nothing on the calendar and simply enjoy the slower pace that Fall seems to invite. It’s still warm enough to run the swamp cooler for now, but I’m guessing in a few weeks the weather will shift, and it won’t be needed anymore.
For now, I’m going to wrap up coding for the day and maybe watch some videos. I’m not sure on what we are doing for dinner tonight. I wouldn’t mind some soup or chili, but there isn’t enough time to make that right now. Maybe this weekend.
