Both girls went to Tricore this morning for their blood draws. I went in with Alexis, and she didn’t pass out -I’m so happy about that! Karissa went in by herself; she was a little nervous but did fine. Afterward, the girls treated themselves to Starbucks for a drink and then went to Blake’s for breakfast burritos. I came home, had some coffee, but still haven’t eaten yet, but it’s almost lunchtime now.
A little later, after we’d already left Tricore, I received a call from the doctor stating that my lab orders were finally in the system. So, I’ll go tomorrow morning instead. I just didn’t feel like turning around and going back today, especially since I needed to get home, put my clothes away, shower, and start coding.
When we got home, I made food for Kel since she was in the middle of her final and couldn’t get to the kitchen. Tommy forgot his saxophone and music this morning, so once Kel finished her test, she brought everything to him – saxophone, stand, and all. She’s heading to her dad’s house afterward. It’s almost lunchtime, and I’m thinking of having some leftover spaghetti.
I started reading The House of My Mother last night. It’s pretty intriguing but a bit triggering. I already know how it ends since it was all over the internet when it happened, but it’s still powerful to read through it. I’m not sure how I’ll manage to finish both this and Great Big Beautiful Life before they’re due back at the library, but I think I can do it.
Right now, I’m eating lunch and watching more of the cybersecurity videos. It’s fascinating how much there is to learn about protecting systems and understanding how attacks work. I’m currently studying the different types of controls and how they’re categorized. I plan to try the practice quiz on controls later.
I did pretty well on the quiz – I only got two wrong out of ten. I’m going to review those topics a bit more, then move on to Chapter 2 of the book tomorrow and watch the accompanying videos. Chapter 2 looks like a long one, so I’ve been taking detailed notes in my notebook to help me retain everything.
Kel wants meatballs with rice and gravy for dinner, so that’s what we’re having tonight. Tommy’s going to have ramen before heading to practice. I like ramen too – there’s a really good ramen place in the city we’ve been to before.
For now, I’m going to make some hot tea and settle in with my book.
