Sometimes I just want to write plainly about what I did today – nothing deep or reflective, just the facts. If I actually did that, though, my journal entries would probably only be a paragraph long. Still, there’s something comforting about that kind of simplicity. Not every day needs to be filled with long reflections; sometimes, just noting what happened feels enough, like quietly marking that the day existed.
Last weekend, I went to the Biological Park and the zoo. It was a nice change of pace to spend the day surrounded by nature and animals. I enjoyed wandering through the various exhibits, watching the animals, and immersing myself in the calm atmosphere. There’s something refreshing about being outside, away from screens and routines, and simply observing life in all its forms. I took a few pictures at the Bio Park, mostly of the scenery. I didn’t get any pics of the animals at the Bio Park farm. I couldn’t see them that well.
We went with friends and had lunch at the Bio Park – sandwiches and chips, but it was nice to sit and eat together. The outdoor seating area had a cozy fireplace beside it, the kind that makes you imagine chilly days spent warming your hands by the flames. They didn’t have a fire going that day, but it still added a nice touch to the atmosphere. It made the whole spot feel relaxed and welcoming.
At the zoo, I didn’t take many pictures – just one, actually. I was more focused on simply watching the animals play. There was a new baby hippo named Maisy who was absolutely adorable, along with some baby gorillas and gibbons that were full of energy. The big cats, my favorite, were mostly hiding. I caught a quick glimpse of a pair of ears and the back of a cheetah, but that was about it. It was a little disappointing not to see them more clearly, but Tommy took plenty of photos, and I’m looking forward to seeing what he captured. Hopefully, tonight, if he isn’t too busy.

On Saturday, we took the car in for servicing. The technician said the blower for the AC needs to be replaced, but the dealership has to order the part first. We’re supposed to call back on Thursday to check whether it’s arrived. After that, we decided to try El Pollo Loco since Tommy had a coupon and they just opened here in the city. The wait was about half an hour, but the food was good. I ordered a burrito bowl, and Tommy got a burrito. When we got home, we spent a little time on the computer before turning our attention to the desk project. Unfortunately, we made a few mistakes, so we ended up sanding all the stain off and starting over again. I don’t really mind, though – it’s all part of the learning process. Neither of us has done anything like this before, so we’re figuring it out as we go. We’re planning to keep working on the desk again tonight.
I’m waiting for Alex to finish lunch, and then we’re heading to the store to pick up things for Tommy and Kel’s lunches, as well as ingredients for dinner tonight – we’re having chicken adobo. Alexis wants to come with us, and Karissa gave me her card so I can grab some sandwich supplies for her lunch. She doesn’t want fast food.
Oh no – I realized I forgot to get Karissa her lemonade and gummy candy when we came home. Tom said I should have taken her with me, but there wasn’t enough room in Kel’s truck; it could only fit three. I suppose I could’ve had them clean it out first. I told Karissa we’ll pick up her candy and lemonade later. For now, I’m going to start making Tommy and Kel’s lunches.
I made the lunches, but I haven’t put them in their containers yet. I forgot to buy another set of five containers for Kel’s lunches. After Alex finishes his game, we’re heading back to Walmart so I can pick them up. I’m also going to grab Karissa some lemonade and gummy candy. I can’t believe I forgot the containers again – I already forgot them last week! At least I’ll be able to get Karissa’s lemonade and candy this time. For now, I’m just waiting for Alex to finish his game before we head out.
