Manic Monday

I’ve been sitting in the room, looking out the window for the last few hours, waiting for the chimney guy to arrive and fix our pellet stove. The stove isn’t working right now, and with the cold weather, we’ve had to rely on space heaters. I don’t mind waiting too much. We really do need the stove fixed, but I wish I knew when he was actually going to show up. It feels like I’ve lost a lot of time that I could’ve spent studying or getting other things done. I still need to prep Tommy’s and Kel’s lunches, but I’m stuck waiting until he gets here.

I haven’t written anything for the past few days, and today hasn’t gone quite the way I expected either. I’ve been sitting here trying to stay productive. I did fold laundry. Oh, Tommy says he can take care of the prep when he gets home. So the last few hours of waiting and stressing? Pretty much wasted.

And to top it off, Kel just told me the chimney guy won’t be here today after all; he’ll be here tomorrow instead. Sigh. It looks like tomorrow will be another day of sitting around, watching for the truck, and hoping he shows up on time. I just realized that I haven’t eaten today. I was busy for most of the day and just didn’t eat! Must go find food now.

Last Thursday, Tommy wasn’t feeling well, so he and Kel went to the ER after work. They ran some tests and gave him fluids; maybe he was just dehydrated. Thankfully, he’s feeling much better now. He stayed home on Friday to rest, and we spent most of the day on our computers before having pizza for dinner.

On Saturday, we started the morning with Tommy’s haircut and then went to the store to pick up ingredients for dinner. We ended up having spaghetti that night. On Sunday, we watched football for a bit before Tommy, and I headed out to buy crickets for Chris’s leopard gecko. After that, we stopped at the local pizza place, he grabbed a sandwich, and I got a couple of slices for myself. Then it was off to hockey for the championship game. Tommy’s team won! I even got some pictures of him with their version of the “Stanley Cup.” We stayed afterward for a short celebration with his teammates. Later, we swung by the store again to pick up lunch stuff for him and Kel. When we got home, we prepped a few containers so Monday’s lunch would be ready to go.

Apparently, I only got about three and a half hours of sleep last night, according to the Apple app, so once Tommy and Kel left for work, I went back to bed. I slept for a few hours, then got up and got ready for the day. I spent some time in the office studying cybersecurity until Alex came in and said we needed to run to the store and get the mail. We went to Walmart to pick up the groceries Kel had ordered, and I grabbed my medication. The girls wanted Starbucks, so Alex dropped me off to get their drinks while he filled the truck with gas. Lexi gave him $20 for that.

When we got home, Alex decided he didn’t feel like getting the mail anymore and said he’d grab it after work since his mom was fine with that. Later, I found out that Kel wasn’t actually okay with it; she needs the clothes in the mail for work tomorrow. Hopefully, Alex remembers to pick it up tonight so she can get her things.

Once we got home, I put the roast and vegetables into the slow cooker and got that started. Then, I was waiting for the chimney guy, who, as it turns out, isn’t coming today after all, but tomorrow.

I made myself some hot tea and grabbed a little something to eat, just some toast, since dinner isn’t too far off. The roast should be done soon, and the whole house is starting to smell warm and comforting. I’m going to post this now and unwind for a bit by watching some YouTube videos. It feels nice to take a moment to just sit and relax.
