It’s almost Spring, the whimsical season. The wet season. The season of blooming flowers and allergies. I have a few spring allergies myself, though thankfully they don’t make me completely miserable. Just enough to remind me that nature is waking up… and my sinuses have been invited to participate. With nature bustling outside, things inside the house have also taken on their own lively patterns.
The kids have resorted to communicating from across the hall. And by communicating, I mean yelling. Their rooms are directly opposite each other, with the office right in the middle, which means I have a front-row seat to every word of their conversation. Apparently, walking the ten feet across the hallway is simply too great an inconvenience.
Of course, the moment I started wondering why they were yelling instead of walking, I saw both Alexis and Karissa head into Alex’s room together. Now I’m even more curious. What are they plotting in there now?
It’s also officially the start of Daylight Saving Time, the “spring forward” time change that often confuses the body. I’m definitely still feeling the fatigue from it. Apparently, it can take up to a week for our internal clocks to catch up after the shift, which makes sense because right now my body feels like it’s operating on a slightly outdated schedule. I’ll probably have a second cup of coffee here in a few.
I do appreciate the extra evening light that Daylight Saving Time brings. I’m just not convinced the twice-a-year time shuffle is worth the temporary feeling that everyone is collectively jet-lagged.
Oh! Alexis bought me a new coffee cup from Starbucks. My old one broke while she was washing it. She didn’t drop it or anything; the handle just suddenly came off, and the cup slipped into the sink and shattered. She felt really bad about it, but I told her it was okay. Sometimes things just reach the end of their life as a coffee cup. It was very sweet of her to get me a new one, though.
This last weekend was really nice. Friday, we mostly stayed inside all day and played on our computers. I played Final Fantasy XIV, watched a little YouTube, and set up my planner for the week. Later that night, we worked out with the weights, which felt good after sitting around most of the day.
Saturday started with our usual morning coffee, and then we went to the store to pick up some food for dinners this week. For the life of me, though, I can’t remember what tonight’s dinner is supposed to be. I’ll have to ask someone before dinner time sneaks up on me. Since it’s starting to warm up, we also took a walk outside.
On Sunday, we went over to our friend’s house and played a few board games. First, we played Treasure Hunter, a card game where you collect treasures and coins. It was fun, Tommy won, of course. Then we played Hues and Cues, where one person describes a color, and everyone else has to guess which color it is. That game was surprisingly hard. It turns out describing colors is much trickier than you’d think.
The last game we played was Incan Gold (also called Diamant). In that one, you explore a temple and decide after each card whether to keep going or leave with the treasure you’ve already collected. If you leave, you store your treasure safely in your tent, but if you stay and a disaster card appears, you lose everything from that round. It was a quick, fun game.
After that game, we had to head out for Tommy’s hockey game. Kel and I chatted while we watched him play. The team played really well, and Tommy even picked up an assist on one of the goals.
When we got home, I made Tommy’s lunch for work today, teriyaki chicken with broccoli and rice. Tommy said his lunch was good.
Since I stopped paying for the extra storage on Microsoft, I had to delete a few gigabytes from OneDrive. The funny thing is, I don’t even use OneDrive. I’m not sure why it keeps syncing files I never asked it to sync in the first place. I went through the settings and turned off several things so it would finally stop.
Now I’m thinking this might be a good opportunity to do a full digital declutter on my computer; organize folders, delete old files, and generally clean things up. Right now, I have 288 GB free out of 930 GB, which isn’t terrible, but I’m sure it could be better.
After I finish with the computer, I’ll move on to decluttering my Notes app, Evernote, and Dropbox. My bookmarks need to be decluttered also. My phone will be the last thing I tackle since it’s actually the least cluttered of everything. My laptop is the least cluttered, but I’ll check on that too.
Alrighty, I should probably get started on dinner. Tonight we’re having salmon, potatoes, and broccoli with cheese, which actually sounds pretty good right no
