It’s Monday

On Thursday, I said I didn’t feel sick, just a little off, probably allergies. Well… now I’m officially sick, and I’m still blaming the allergies. My head and throat hurt, I’m achy, and my nose will not stop running. I’m also trying not to cough because every time I do, my head reminds me immediately that it does not approve.

I was moving pretty slowly this morning. After Tommy and Kel left, I went back to sleep for a bit, which felt necessary. Eventually, I got up, got dressed, went through my morning routine, and made some coffee.

I’m planning to start reading my cybersecurity book and maybe take some notes… but I might also save the note-taking for tomorrow, depending on how I’m feeling. We’ll see which version of me shows up.

Everest is staying inside today. She managed to sneak out through the bottom of the fence, so now I’m trying to undo the yellow rope that is around the top of the fence cause we already have a rope there, and reposition it along the bottom to block her escape route. For now, though, she’s on indoor lockdown until I can fix it properly.

My phone charging cable gave up on me, so I’ve had to switch to a backup. It’s a USB-C to Lightning cable, which means I can’t use my hub, so now I’m charging my phone with a portable charger instead. Not ideal, but it’s getting the job done.

All in all, I’m having a very Monday kind of Monday, feeling sick, Everest made a great escape, and now my cable has joined the chaos. My hands hurt from having to undo the yellow rope and tie it around the bottom of the fence so Everest can go outside.

Last weekend, though, was pretty relaxed. Tommy had a band concert in the city on Saturday, and it was really nice. Afterward, we stopped by an RV and boat show and wandered around looking at different towable RVs. On Sunday, we kept things low-key at home until it was time for Tommy’s hockey game. He played really well, two goals and an assist, which was fun to watch.

Trying to get the girls to schedule their own doctor’s appointments or call their old school for financial information feels like pulling teeth. It would honestly be so much easier to just handle it myself, but they’re not kids anymore, and most places want to speak directly to them, not me. Calling on their behalf now just feels a little… off.

Ok, so Alexis made her doctor appointment, and Karissa is calling her school’s financial aid office to get more information on what they need from her. We may have to go to her old school to pick up a scholarship transfer form if Alex can’t grab one from the financial aid office there, since he’s attending that school now.

Alex did speak with the financial aid office, and they recommended that Karissa come in person to get the form. So maybe when Tom is off, we can make a trip down there.

It’s frustrating because all she really needs is that form, and it feels like it would be just as easy for Alex to pick it up. But at least if Karissa goes in, she can ask her questions directly, especially since they don’t always answer the phone.

I’m going to make some tea and read for a bit before Tommy and Kel get home. I’m not feeling great, but I’d still like to lift weights tonight. I want to keep my streak going. I’m on week 11 now.
