When Karissa had her cardiology appointment in March, it was unfortunately canceled because the doctor wasn’t available. I rescheduled it for today, and we made the drive down to the city, which takes just over half an hour, only to discover that they scheduled her for a day when the doctor was not in! It was frustrating to have come all that way to be told the doctor wouldn’t be there. I wish they had notified me earlier that I would need to reschedule today’s appointment. Next time I reschedule, I will be sure to confirm whether the doctor will be present that day! However, it’s understandable; these things happen. The receptionist seemed quite exhausted, and I felt sorry for her, so I made sure to thank her for her assistance.
Now that I’m home, I’m preparing to start coding. I need to write another debounce function. The task is to create a function that limits how frequently it can be called. If the function is invoked again before the specified delay in milliseconds, the timer should reset. I’ve tackled a similar function before, but it’s important to keep practicing to become more attuned to the process. I’m going to dive into this now and will check back later.
I’ve been coding for a few hours and reading more about debouncing. Again, debouncing in JavaScript is a programming pattern used to limit how often a function is executed—especially useful for events that can fire rapidly. Without debouncing, the event handler might be called dozens or hundreds of times per second, which can hurt performance or cause unexpected behavior.
From the examples, everything appears quite organized and not overly complicated. However, I’m struggling to recall how I approached this previously. I suppose I could reference my journal to see what I did, though that might take some time. Admittedly, I’m feeling a bit lazy at the moment. I’m considering taking a break to make myself either coffee or hot tea, though I haven’t decided yet. For lunch, I had a sandwich.
I just prepared some spaghetti sauce for dinner tonight. Oh no! I accidentally placed a bit of weight on my desk, causing it to lean further. I hope this desk can hold up until my new one arrives. The weather hasn’t warmed up enough yet for us to stain the wood of the new desk, and I’m eagerly anticipating my desk being finished so I can organize my stationery. Now, I should go start boiling the water for the pasta.
