Tomorrow, Kel and I have a long list of errands to tackle, so I’m using today to code and take it easy before the busy day ahead. I also need to fill the pill boxes later on.
I’ve been reading more of “The Paris Apartment” and have come to find it somewhat tedious. However, I’m still curious about the ending. The book is a thriller, a classic whodunit, but the plot feels lackluster. There’s a lot of overdramatic behavior without much action. Despite my interest in how it all concludes, I find it challenging to read for extended periods because of its dullness.
I have another book waiting for me once I finish this one, and I hope it’s soon. “Made in Manhattan” is a romantic comedy, which feels perfect for my upcoming plane ride. I was in the mood for something lighthearted, so I thought this might be a good choice. The story is set in Manhattan, which seems to be a recurring theme for me—I find myself drawn to books with specific place names, perhaps in hopes of experiencing the essence of those cities through the narrative. Some authors do an excellent job of vividly describing the setting, making it feel authentic, while others fall short, and the story could unfold anywhere. Does that make sense?
I’m also enjoying the process of coding an RPG game. I’m taking my time with it, making sure I fully understand everything that’s happening. The enjoyment I’m getting from this project is something I want to prolong.
I took a break to search for a wall plug with a USB outlet and a USB-C cable for Alex. I didn’t mind stepping away; even though I’m having fun coding, my concentration isn’t as sharp as I’d like it to be. I’m also feeling hungry and keep thinking it’s lunchtime, even though I still have about an hour to wait before I can eat.
I had some French bread pizza for lunch, and it turned out to be quite decent. I wasn’t in the mood to make a sandwich today. Kel came home to eat lunch, and while she was here, Karissa cleaned out Kel’s dad’s truck. Kel plans to return the truck to her dad while we’re away on our trip.
Later tonight, I’m going to dye my hair a brownish-red color. I wanted something close to my natural shade but with a hint of red. Kel suggested I try a more adventurous color, but to me, the red is fun since I don’t usually have red hair. Interestingly, I can create a redheaded child—like Alexis! Kel also mentioned that perhaps Alexis could help with my hair, but I told her I’m not comfortable with that idea. I’d prefer to either do it myself or have Kel assist me. Since Alexis has never dyed anyone’s hair before, I think she would be too nervous. So, it’s settled; Kel will be dyeing my hair tonight. I’ve considered doing it myself, but it’s definitely easier to have someone else help with the process.
Tommy is off work and on his way to get his hair cut. After that, we need to head to Walmart to pick up our medications; I believe he has some to collect as well. I’m not certain what we should have for dinner tonight, but we do have a lot of pulled pork left over. Perhaps we can make do with that. I’m going to change, so I’m ready to go to Walmart when Tommy gets back home.
