I transferred my saved data and user account over to Tommy’s Switch, though I haven’t had time to play yet. The process was surprisingly easy—Nintendo makes transferring data between Switch consoles pretty simple. On a related note, there’s some buzz that Final Fantasy XIV might be coming to the Nintendo Switch 2. Square Enix and Nintendo have reportedly been in discussions, although no official announcement has been made. If it does release, it’ll probably require purchasing a separate version for that platform, which is pretty standard for multi-platform games.
As for dinner tonight, we’re still debating. Right now, pot pies are at the top of the list. Ok, it’s the only thing on the list that the kids thought of. But what I’d really love to try making is… A British steak and ale pie. Tommy let me taste some of his when we visited a pub, and I absolutely loved it. I found this recipe, and while it looks a bit involved, I think it would be worth it. We’d just need some individual pie tins to make it work—which actually sounds pretty fun!
It’s lunchtime, and I’m debating what to eat. I’ll probably just make a sandwich—we have lunch meat and cheese, and that sounds easy enough.
On another note, I finally finished The Paris Apartment last night! Honestly, the ending fell flat for me. By the time the reveal came—who did it and why—I didn’t really care anymore. I just wanted to be done. The book wasn’t terrible, but it wasn’t for me either. I gave it three stars. Nothing much seemed to happen, and while the author tried to make the apartment feel like its own character, it never quite worked. Still, I’m glad I pushed through and finished after months of dragging it out. Now the question is: what’s next? I’m leaning toward historical fiction, but I haven’t decided which era or story to dive into yet.
Meanwhile, in FreeCodeCamp, some challenges feel like word problems. I’ve always had a tough time with those. It’s not that the problems themselves are hard—it’s more that the way they’re worded throws me off. I spend more time deciphering what they’re actually asking than solving the problem. Word problems have always been my nemesis. I remember plenty of nights as a kid sitting with my dad, trying to untangle them. Funny how some struggles stick with you.
Another confusing aspect of JavaScript is figuring out what is considered true and false:
console.log(1 == true); // true console.log(2 == true); // false console.log(0 == false); // true console.log("" == false); // true console.log("" == 0); // true
I’ve got about an hour of coding left, and then I’ll probably start thinking about dinner. I’m leaning toward fending tonight—we’ve got enough food in the house, so there’s no need for a store run. I was considering checking the mail, but honestly, I’ll just do it tomorrow. I don’t feel like stepping outside. What I do feel like doing is changing into my PJs, making some matcha tea, and playing on Tommy’s Switch. Since he has band practice tonight, he won’t be home until late.
We’ve decided to fend for dinner tonight, which I think is the best option. I’m not sure what I’ll eat yet, but I’ll make some matcha tea while I figure it out. After that, I want to do a little research on what book to read next and then spend some time on the Switch. The power glitched a little while ago. There looks to be a storm coming our way.
Tomorrow, Karissa is going to the Big Time Rush concert with Alex, and Kel will be driving them. She missed the last one because she got sick with COVID just a few days before. Kel had caught it first, then passed it to her, and eventually Tommy and I got sick too. COVID was rough, but I’m glad she has another chance to see her favorite band. It’s really sweet of Alex to go along with her.
For now, I’m going to get into my pajamas, brew some matcha tea, and look into which book I should dive into next.
