I finally finished the Christmas shopping list! Okay, technically I finished it today, but the important part is that it’s done. It’s also much smaller than the Thanksgiving list, which honestly feels like a win. I didn’t add anything to the charcuterie board, even though Chris will most likely do one. Kel may take care of that.
Now, onto the Christmas plan. 🎄
We’ll start making cookies on Tuesday. A few of the cookie doughs need time to chill, so we can prep those and let them refrigerate overnight. On Wednesday, we’ll bake the cookies, and I’ll also make the rolls. Then on Thursday, we’ll take care of the sides along with the main dish.
Having this all mapped out makes everything feel a lot more manageable and a little less overwhelming.
So all I need to worry about now is Christmas cards. Not too bad.
Today I’m really trying to focus, but the closer we get to Christmas, the harder it is to sit still and settle into studying. My mind keeps bouncing between what I should be doing and everything swirling around this time of year.
In cybersecurity, I’m currently studying Windows security. The Linux portion on TryHackMe was pretty short, and most of the remaining Linux lessons are locked behind a paid membership, which is frustrating. Because of that, I know I need to spend more time with the book, actually reading it slowly and writing down key terms so I can better understand and memorize them, rather than just skimming.
I did try a little coding today, but it was hard to stay put. I kept getting up and walking around because I felt so restless. It’s one of those days where my body wants to move, even though my brain knows I need to sit down and concentrate.
Ok, I spent the last four hours reading the cybersecurity book, with a few breaks. I didn’t write down the terms yet, but that’s on my list, and I’ll get to it soon. Sometimes, just getting through the material is the hardest part.
I have my planner for next year, and now comes the fun—but slightly overwhelming—part: setting it up. I have many ideas for how I want to organize it. Layouts, sections, trackers… It’s all in my head right now. I just need to carve out the time to actually sit down and make it happen. Lol.
Dinner is pretty low-key tonight. We’re having leftovers, with the addition of mac n’ cheese, so I’ll start that around 5. I might spend a few minutes working on my planner before I head into the kitchen.
Oh, and next weekend we’re going to the River of Lights show at the BioPark. I’ve seen the light sculptures before, but I’ve never experienced them at night when everything is fully illuminated. It should be a lot of fun.
Earlier that day, we’re heading to a friend’s house to do some trip planning. I’ve been looking up where the hidden Mickeys are located at Disney World. I haven’t done much research on Disney World beyond its history, and I don’t have any must-see rides in mind. I’m more interested in wandering the park, taking in the atmosphere, and maybe going on a few rides along the way.
