Chaotic days
I was going to write yesterday. I actually had this page open and ready to go, but, of course, I ended up away from my laptop all day.
My morning started out the same as always. Karissa had a doctor’s appointment yesterday at 1:00, so we all left around noon to run a few errands before heading over there. I honestly thought it would be a simple trip: go to the appointment and then come home. It definitely didn’t work out that way.
Alex dropped Karissa and me off at her appointment around 12:40, and we got checked in right on time. Of course, we still had to wait for the doctor. Luckily, everything went well. Karissa is doing well, and she got her medication refilled, which was good news.
While we were there, Alex took Jay to the next town over for a job interview that ended up not even happening. Apparently, the person who was supposed to conduct the interview wasn’t there, so they had to reschedule it for later today.
After Karissa’s appointment, we walked over to a local coffee shop to wait for Alex. Karissa got a bagel with avocado spread, and I sat there trying not to think about food. I hadn’t eaten anything yet, and even though I was hungry, I didn’t want to eat out. We stayed there for about half an hour before Alex came to pick us up.
This is where the day started getting a little chaotic.
We made it back home, and I thought we were finally done going places, but then they decided they wanted to go to Walmart. Lexi got into the truck, and I didn’t want to sit in the middle seat. Plus, somebody needed to stay with Everest. So Karissa handed me her card so I could pick up her medication while she stayed home with Everest.
So off we went again.
At Walmart, I picked up Karissa’s medication while Lexi grabbed a few things she wanted. Then, after that, we went to Sonic because Lexi wanted a drink. I still didn’t want anything there either. So at this point, I was still running on absolutely no coffee and no food all day.
By the time we finally got home, it was already around 3:30, and I still had one more stop to make because I needed things for dinner.
Around then, Kel and Chris got home, and Chris took me to the store. We first stopped at Walmart because Chris needed something, then headed to another store to get groceries for dinner and a few things for tomorrow, too.
The original plan was burgers, but then we got hit with a lightning storm, and nobody wanted to stand outside grilling in the middle of that. So plans changed, and we ended up having Spanish rice with ground beef instead. Maybe we’ll have the burgers today.
Ironically, dinner ended up being the only meal I ate all day yesterday, so by that point I was just happy to finally be eating something.
Today is looking much quieter. I do have to call Costco about my hearing aid, but that’s really the only thing on my to-do list. I can finally sit down and study. I haven’t studied since Friday, so I’m ready to get back to it.
Last weekend we did some cleaning around the house. Then on Monday, for Memorial Day, Tommy and I went to his concert at the Veterans’ Center for the Memorial Day ceremony. It was a really nice ceremony. We were supposed to have burgers that night, too, but another storm rolled through and ruined those plans.
On a happier note, I have a new computer case, and it looks so cool. Tommy was putting everything together last night. We still need to get some thermal compound for the CPU, but I’m excited because it means I should be getting my computer back soon.
And one more exciting thing: Alexis got accepted into the Master’s program at the university she wanted! She’s been so excited and has already started getting her housing situation figured out and signing up for classes for the fall.
I finally made an appointment for my medication management. The appointment will be over the phone, well, more so over the computer, just like my previous appointments, which is a relief. I’m glad I won’t have to go into the clinic in person just to get my medication refilled.
I also called Costco to schedule an appointment for my left hearing aid, since it doesn’t seem to be working properly right now. I had to leave a message, so now I’m waiting for them to call me back so I can set that up.
On top of that, I completed the medical forms for my gynecology appointment next month, so that’s another thing taken care of ahead of time.
Now that all of that is done, I’m planning to spend the rest of the day studying.
I took a break during my lunch and cleaned off my desk. One of the drawers doesn’t have a front on it, so everything kept sliding and falling out. It had been bothering me for a while, so I finally took care of it and got everything straightened out. I also organized the papers people have given me to hold onto for them, which made the whole space feel a lot less cluttered and chaotic.
Right now, I’m going to make myself some matcha tea and spend some time reading until everyone comes home.
