Errand day
I’m finally home and back at my computer after being out most of the day. Karissa, Alex, and I left the house around 10:30 this morning, and it turned into one of those “quick errands” days that somehow eat up the entire afternoon.
Our first stop was Sonic because Karissa and Alex wanted food. I didn’t get anything for myself. I’m really trying to stay away from fast food when I can. Sitting there smelling fries and not ordering anything deserves at least a little gold star.
After that, we headed to Walgreens so Karissa could get a new passport photo taken. She already had a photo, but the passport application says the picture has to be within the last six months, so we figured it was safer to just get an updated one done. I think her passport photo looks cute!
Once that was finished, we went to the post office to get her passport paperwork taken care of. Of course, we realized we had filled out the wrong form. So there we were, scrambling to refill everything while standing at a counter. Thankfully, we got it sorted out pretty quickly, turned everything in, and paid the fee. Karissa was definitely not thrilled about how expensive passports are. I think everyone experiences a moment of “wait… it costs HOW much to leave the country?”
After surviving the post office adventure, we went over to Starbucks. Karissa and Alex got drinks, and they picked one up for Alexis, too. Once again, I resisted getting anything for myself, which, honestly, I’m pretty proud of. Two places with drinks and snacks in one day, and I stayed strong. Apparently, I do have some self-control hiding somewhere deep inside me after all.
We dropped Karissa back off at home and then headed to my doctor’s appointment. I got there nice and early, which usually just means more time sitting in the waiting room, wondering why I bothered being early in the first place. Sure enough, the doctor was running a little behind. Thankfully, everything went well once I got in. My lab work looks good, and I passed my physical, so that was reassuring to hear.
The doctor also suggested that I call the ENT clinic and ask about transferring to a location closer to the city. If I get a new referral, they will process me as a new patient rather than treating it as a regular transfer, which could make things easier. So that’s another thing to add to my growing “adult responsibilities” list.
Now I’m finally home, settled in at my desk, and planning to study for a bit before I start dinner around five. We’re having salmon tonight.
Tomorrow, Karissa and I are heading into the city with Tommy and Kel so Karissa can get the forms she needs from the financial aid office at the college. Her current university keeps asking for the forms. It will be nice to get that done. First, we’ll drop Tommy and Chris off, then Kel, Karissa, and I will head over to the college. After that, Kel is going to drop us off at the coffee shop near her work, the same one where I camped out before my eye appointment a while back.
We’ll be there for about six hours, so I’m planning to turn the coffee shop into my temporary study headquarters. I’m bringing my laptop, my notes, and probably have enough caffeine to power a small village.
I’m going to get to studying before I need to make dinner.
