Feels like autumn

Today was a pretty busy day, but in a good way. I feel like I accomplished quite a few things, which always feels good. I cleaned up the living room, did some laundry, and put all of the clothes away. I also walked down to get the mail, and I spent some time applying for jobs.

The weather has finally started to cool down for us, too. It definitely feels like autumn now. I really like this time of year, especially when the temperatures start becoming more comfortable and it actually feels like the seasons are changing. It makes me feel like the year is moving along, and somehow it already feels like the holidays are getting closer.

Speaking of the holidays, I also filled out some Christmas cards today. I actually enjoy doing them early. I would much rather fill them out little by little than wait until December and suddenly have a huge stack of cards to write all at once. While I was cleaning, I even found more blank Christmas cards that I had put away and forgotten about. So now I have even more cards to work on! I don’t mind, though. I think it’s nice to take my time with them and actually think about what I want to write instead of rushing through everything at the last minute.

I also helped Karissa with making a phone call about one of her appointments. She needed to call and give them her health insurance information, so I sat with her while she made the call. I want to help her as much as I can, but I’m also realizing that I can’t do everything for her anymore. She’s an adult now, and the doctor’s offices and other places want to speak directly with her. They don’t really want to talk to me on her behalf anymore. I understand why they have to do that, even though sometimes it can be difficult to step back when I’m used to helping her. I can still be there to support her, though, and I think sitting with her while she made the call was a good way to help without actually doing it for her.

I also have my therapy assessment tomorrow. The therapist told me that the assessment will probably take anywhere from an hour to an hour and a half. I’m a little curious about what to expect, but she seemed really nice from the short conversation we had on the phone. Hopefully, the assessment goes well. It’s always a little strange meeting someone for the first time and talking about personal things, but I’m glad I found someone who seems kind and approachable.

Last weekend was really fun, too, although it started with quite a bit of work. On Friday, Tommy and I went to Home Depot to pick up some things we needed to fix the leak around the toilet. Tommy ended up working on it for most of the day. Thankfully, the toilet isn’t leaking anymore, so that problem seems to be fixed. Unfortunately, we discovered another leak coming from the valve in the wall. So we’re not finished with the plumbing problems yet. Someone will have to come out and take care of that leak, but at least the toilet itself isn’t leaking anymore. That’s something!

Saturday was much more fun. We went over to our friend’s house for gaming, which was a nice way to spend the day. Later that evening, everyone went out to tea at the local tea restaurant. The theme that night was Sherlock Holmes, which made it especially fun. I always enjoy when places put together themed events like that because it makes the whole experience feel a little more special. The food was really good, too, and it was just a fun night getting to spend time with everyone.

Kel and our friend were a little bummed because they thought the theme was going to be the Wizarding World. I checked on it last month when I saw the event on the calendar. I knew it was Sherlock Holmes, so I was a little confused when they were talking about bringing their Harry Potter wands to the tea.

Sunday was a pretty relaxing day. We played some games on the computer for a while, and later that night we went to Tommy’s hockey game. It was a good game and a lot of fun to watch.

Tommy has also been playing the remastered Witcher game lately. I’ve been looking over at his computer while he was playing, and I really want to play it myself. I played the original, but this is a remaster, and it’s definitely something I’d like to get around to eventually. Unfortunately, I’ll have to wait for now.

Overall, it has been a pretty full few days. Between cleaning, laundry, job applications, helping Karissa, getting ready for my assessment, and everything that happened over the weekend, I feel like I’ve had quite a lot going on.

Ya know, my uncle got married again. He was married to my aunt, who was my mom’s sister, and she passed away years ago. So seeing him get married again brings up some mixed feelings for me.

It’s a little strange, honestly. My aunt was such an important part of our family, and for so many years, I only knew my uncle as her husband. Seeing him start this new chapter of his life feels a little different, and I think it’s natural for it to feel weird on my end sometimes.

But at the same time, I’m genuinely happy for him. He deserves to be happy and to have someone to share his life with. Losing someone you love doesn’t mean you have to stop living or stop finding happiness again. I think my aunt would probably want him to be happy, too.

We are having this French onion ravioli for dinner tonight. We tried it at Costco; it’s pretty good. It seems like an easy dinner to make also.

I want to check out an audiobook from the library. Tommy told me that my Kindle can play an audiobook. I so want to try this out! Lol.
