It’s Friday!
I’ve been looking at different job-hunting websites lately, trying to find something that might work better for me. I came across one called Wellfound, but it requires a paid subscription for its features, and I really don’t want to spend money just to look for a job. Then I tried another site called HiringCafe, but I found it too confusing to navigate. There seemed to be a lot going on, and I wasn’t sure how to use it effectively. So, for now, I’m back to using Indeed and checking company websites directly. At least those options are familiar and easier to work with. I guess it’s sometimes better to stick with what you know rather than waste time trying to figure out a new platform.
I was also thinking about what I could write about here in my journal today, but honestly, I can’t think of anything interesting. Then again, I haven’t written much about anything over the past couple of days, either. LOL. I just feel that I haven’t had much going on that feels worth writing about, or maybe I’m overthinking it and putting too much pressure on myself to come up with something meaningful. Not every day has to be exciting or eventful, I suppose. Even the ordinary things, like looking for jobs, trying new websites, getting frustrated with technology, or just figuring out what to do with my day, are part of my life right now. Maybe that’s enough to write about. After all, journaling doesn’t always have to be about something big or important. Sometimes it can simply be a way to get my thoughts out of my head, even when I don’t have much to say.
Speaking of technology, my computer seems to be behaving herself lately. No loud beeping, freezing up, or any of the other nonsense she was doing before. Well, except for the occasional screen flickering. That still happens from time to time, and I haven’t quite figured out what is causing it. I doubt it’s the monitor, though, since I I’m sure I had gotten that one fairly recently. Then again, who knows? I can’t even remember exactly when I bought it anymore. For all I know, it’s been longer than I think. Either way, the monitor seems to be working just fine otherwise, so I’m still not sure what to make of the flickering. I guess I’ll just keep an eye on it and hope it doesn’t turn into another computer headache.
Speaking of computer problems, I helped a friend with an issue she was having yesterday. She explained what was going on with her computer, and I had a few ideas about what might be causing the problem. However, rather than just guessing and possibly sending her in the wrong direction, I decided to Google it first to see whether my thoughts made sense. I wanted to make sure I was on the right track before offering any advice. Technology can be a pain sometimes, but it’s also kind of satisfying when you can figure out what might be wrong and help someone else out. Hopefully, my suggestions will help her get her computer working properly again.
The weather was a little different this morning, too. It rained earlier, and I honestly thought we were in for a rainy day. I figured the clouds would stick around and the rain might continue for several more hours. But apparently, the weather had other plans. Before long, the sun came up over the horizon, the clouds started moving away, and the sky began to clear. So much for my rainy day! I suppose sunshine is nice, too, even if I was looking forward to a little more rain. There’s just something I enjoy about a good rainy day. Sometimes, a quiet, rainy day is just what I need.
Of course, the dogs probably have a completely different opinion about the weather. They seem much happier when the sun is shining, and they can spend time outside without everything being wet. It’s actually quite lovely out today, with the temperature sitting around 66 degrees. It really feels like autumn has arrived, which makes me happy. I love this time of year when the weather starts cooling down, the air feels a little crisper, and being outside is comfortable rather than too hot.
The dogs are certainly making the most of it today. They’ve been enjoying their time outside, and I’ve been checking on them every half hour or so to make sure everything is okay. Of course, I have to admit that checking on them gives me a pretty good excuse to get up and move around myself. I’ve been sitting in this damn chair long enough! Sometimes I get so comfortable sitting at the computer that I forget how long I’ve been there. Before I know it, I’ve been sitting in the same spot for ages, and it’s probably time to get up, stretch my legs, and walk around for a bit. So the dogs get some company, and I get a much-needed break from the chair.
I did manage to get some things accomplished around the house today, too. I finally tackled the laundry because the clothes were starting to pile up in the laundry basket, and I figured it was time to stop putting it off. There’s only so long you can ignore a growing pile of laundry before it becomes impossible to pretend it isn’t there. I still need to put the clothes away. Not sure if I’m going to do that later today or leave it for tomorrow morning. It might not be the most exciting way to spend part of the day, but it feels good to get things done.
I also filled up Tommy’s and my pill boxes for the coming days. While I was working on that, Sandy was curled up on my lap for a while, keeping me company. She seemed perfectly content to settle in and enjoy a little cuddle time while I got everything organized. Unfortunately for her, I apparently moved around a little too much for her liking. Eventually, she decided she’d had enough of my fidgeting and found somewhere else to settle down. I guess I wasn’t providing the peaceful, stationary lap she had been hoping for.
Still, it was nice having her there for a while. It’s funny how the cats have their own ideas about how things should go, and they certainly aren’t shy about letting us know when we aren’t meeting their expectations. Sandy wanted a comfortable lap, and I wanted to get my chores done. Unfortunately, those two plans didn’t quite line up for very long.
There are no snacks in the house, and it’s kind of late to make coffee. So, maybe I’ll go make some hot tea. Hopefully that will take the edge off of wanting to snack.
I’m going to go now and start dinner. We are having air fryer chicken. I’m thinking for seasoning I will use salt, pepper, oregano, onion and garlic powder, and smoked paprika. I think that will be good.
