Jury duty maybe?
I was a bit busy yesterday and didn’t get a chance to write. When I finally had some time, I didn’t have internet and didn’t feel like typing everything out on my phone.
Yesterday started early. Alex and I went with Tommy to his work in the morning. After we dropped him off, Alex and I took the car and headed toward my appointment, which is pretty far out. It took us almost an hour to get there from the city.
We arrived at 9:00, even though my first appointment wasn’t until 9:50. Since it’s at the hospital, I had to check in at the main lobby, which usually takes about twenty minutes. I had two appointments scheduled: an audiology test at 9:50 and an ENT appointment at 10:45. Check-in went smoothly, and I actually found my way to audiology without much trouble. I’m usually not great with directions, so I was proud of that.
The hearing test took about 15 minutes. I still have hearing loss, which isn’t going to change, but the good news is that it hasn’t gotten any worse.
After that, I made my way to the ENT appointment. That part was a little trickier to find, but I got there. The appointment went well. I still have a bit of an ear infection in my right ear. The doctor said he sent a prescription for ear drops to Walmart, but I haven’t gotten a notification yet, so I’m wondering if he forgot.
I also found out that my doctor is retiring soon. They’ve already scheduled me with a new doctor for my next appointment in October, but I’m considering asking my provider for an ENT who’s closer to the city so the drive isn’t so long.
After my appointments, Alex and I went to Chipotle for lunch. It was okay. The chicken was a little dry, but the seasoning was good. I couldn’t finish it, so I brought the rest home. I think Alexis is eating my leftovers today.
After that, we stopped by Costco to get gas for Tommy’s car and looked around for a bit. Alex picked up a soda collaboration between the game, Fallout, and Jones Soda. Then we started heading back toward Tommy’s work and looked for a Starbucks. We found one, but it was drive-thru only, and we never found the one Tommy mentioned. Instead, we ended up at a local pizza place, grabbed drinks, and hung out there for a few hours. Unfortunately, they didn’t have Wi-Fi, so I couldn’t post on my site or study. I ended up reading my notes and watching some YouTube on my phone.
At the end of the day, we went back to pick up Tommy. We went to the wrong gate at first, but eventually found the right one. After he got off work, we stopped at another Costco closer to home to grab a few things for dinner and the house, then headed home. Once we got back, we had dinner, and afterward, Tommy and I got ready to work out.
This morning was a little busy, too. I have Everest today, which always adds a bit of chaos. I let her outside for a while earlier. Karissa wasn’t feeling well yesterday, but she’s doing better today. She fed the animals and is now working on her homework. You know she’s really not feeling well when she goes to bed at 8 p.m.; she’s usually up past midnight.
Alex took Merlin and Everest out for a walk this morning. I warned him Merlin can be a handful, but I think he managed. Everest is in the office with me now, jumping on me and whining because she wants out, but I closed the door. She’ll settle down and fall asleep eventually. I figured I’d write now while I can, even though she keeps nudging my arm.
I watched a live cybersecurity study group this morning. They asked some questions that might be on the exam, and I didn’t know a few of the answers, so I’ll need to look those up. It’s tough watching live streams since I can’t pause when something needs my attention or when I get distracted. Which can easily happen at home.
Oh, it’s lunchtime now! I didn’t even notice the time. It’s really getting away from me today. I’m not sure what I’m going to eat since I gave Alexis my Chipotle leftovers. I’m going to go figure that out and take Everest outside for a few minutes.
Ok, I had a sandwich. Now back to studying. Oh, Alexis says my Chipotle order is boring because I didn’t order any guacamole or sour cream. Aww, I didn’t feel like spending the three dollars on guacamole.
Sigh. Karissa has jury selection on Wednesday, and the city we need to go to is over an hour away. We’ll have to catch a bus from the community center at 5:45 a.m. just to get there. Then we’ll be there all day since the return bus doesn’t leave until 5 p.m. I’m really hoping this isn’t something that lasts all week, but we’ll see.
I was kind of hoping she wouldn’t get called for jury duty because I knew it would mean a long bus ride and a full day at the courthouse. But… maybe it’ll end up being an interesting experience. I’m going with her, though I’m sure once we’re inside and figure out where she needs to be, she’ll be on her own.
I can feel myself getting anxious about it now, and it’s making it hard to focus on studying. I know we’ll manage and everything will be fine, but the anxiety is still there. It’s funny, Karissa doesn’t seem anxious at all. She might be a little nervous about the jury selection itself, but when it comes to getting there and figuring things out, she seems completely unfazed. She is almost giddy.
I will get a few more quizzes in and then read a bit. My anxiety is affecting my brain right now. I’m going to make myself some matcha tea right now.
