More errands

I keep dozing off, so I decided to take a break from studying and do some writing instead. Karissa and I are in the city at a coffee shop, waiting for Kel to get off work. We’ll probably be here for a while. We rode down with Tommy, Kel, and Chris so we could stop by the college and pick up a few forms that Karissa’s current school needs.

First, we dropped Chris off at school. After that, we went to Tommy’s work and dropped him off there. Then Kel, Karissa, and I headed over to the college to ask about the forms she needed. The college had Karissa fill out some paperwork so she could get one of the forms, but they didn’t recognize the other one. She’s going to have to call her school and explain that her old school doesn’t know what that form is, and that she’ll mail the other forms they requested.

Afterward, we went to Costco to pick up cat and dog food along with some things for dinner. I also scheduled an appointment for Karissa’s hearing aid because it’s been sounding staticky lately. Then we put gas in the car.

We drove across to the other side of the city to Kel’s work and stopped at the coffee shop next door. Karissa bought breakfast for us. I got an acai bowl, and Kel ordered a burrito. The shop was busy when we first arrived. Kel sat with us for a little while before heading over to her work.

Before she left, Kel let Karissa borrow her laptop, but the passwords wouldn’t work, and after too many attempts, the laptop locked itself for a while. Karissa eventually gave up on it and decided to just use her phone instead. I let her borrow my charger so she could keep it powered while we waited.

I spent some time studying, though I kept getting sleepy and had trouble focusing. I brought along the book I started reading last week, The Castle of Llyr, and I’m thinking about reading that for a while instead.

The coffee shop is much quieter now than it was this morning during the breakfast rush. Most of the crowd has cleared out, and the noise has faded. It helps that I have my noise-cancelling headphones on. They really do block the noise. It feels calmer now.

I was starting to get sleepy again, so Karissa bought me a coffee. I got an iced mocha, and it’s actually really good. The cold coffee helped wake me up a bit, and it gave me enough energy to keep reading my book. I was getting close to the end, so I spent the next little while finishing it.

I just finished the book, and I really liked the story. It was a good read, and I’m glad I brought it with me today. Now I have about an hour and a half before Kel gets off work and we go pick everyone up. I’m planning to watch a few cybersecurity videos for a while and then start packing up my stuff before we leave.

I’m starting to feel a little anxious about being at the coffee shop for so long. We’ve been here for hours now, and I’m beginning to feel restless and overly aware of everything around me. I think I’m just getting tired from being out all day and being around people for so long. Still, the day has been nice overall, and it’s been a pretty relaxing place to spend the afternoon.
