The new desk

My desk is finally finished and completely set up! I absolutely love it. It feels so much nicer having everything in one place, and it makes me want to spend more time at my computer. Well, not any more time than I already spend at my computer. But it’s nice having a working desk again.

After Tommy left for work this morning, I went back to bed because I had only gotten about four hours of sleep last night. According to my Apple Sleep app, my sleep was interrupted quite a bit, even though I don’t remember waking up that often. I actually felt like I slept pretty well despite what the app said.

Once I got up for the day, I focused on unpacking the two storage totes and putting everything back into my desk. It feels great to finally have everything unpacked. The only thing left is organizing the drawers. While I was cleaning, I started tossing things into whichever drawer had room just to get everything put away faster, so now I need to go back through them and give everything a proper home.

I’ve also been slacking on keeping up with my planner. I’m a few days behind already. Since I didn’t write down everything we did over the weekend, I’ve already forgotten parts of it. I’ll try to remember everything while it’s still somewhat fresh.

On Friday, Tommy and I took the car in to be serviced. After that, we went to a restaurant near the university and had a cinnamon roll while waiting for Chris to get off work. After we picked him up, we all headed to the suit store. Chris picked out a new suit, and Tommy had his suit altered since he’s lost quite a bit of weight since the last time he wore it. Kel stopped by after she got off work.

Once the suit appointments were finished, Kel and Chris headed home while Tommy and I drove to Costco’s Hearing Aid Center to get my hearing aid repaired. Of course, we also had to ask if they could remove the hearing aid dome that had somehow gotten stuck in my right ear…again. Apparently, I’m becoming an expert at getting those little things lodged in my ear.

Thankfully, Tommy thought to ask if they made a smaller dome for my hearing aid, and they do! I just need to call today to schedule another appointment so they can recalibrate my hearing aid to fit the smaller size. Hopefully, that will keep this from happening again.

Unfortunately, they weren’t able to remove the dome from my ear at Costco, so Tommy and I headed over to urgent care. Luckily, we didn’t have to wait very long at all. For a Friday afternoon, the visit was surprisingly quick, and they were able to remove the dome without any problems. It was definitely a relief to finally get it out.

When we got home that evening, Tommy started putting together my new desk setup and getting my computer connected.

On Saturday, he finished setting up my computer and monitor, and everything came together perfectly. Since it was the Fourth of July, we celebrated with burgers for dinner. Tommy also started smoking a pork roast that evening so it would be ready for Sunday.

Sunday was spent at a friend’s house for our usual gaming day. Most of the group went swimming, but because of my ear infections, I decided not to get into the pool. Instead, I stayed inside with the others who weren’t swimming, and we played games together. Even though I missed out on the pool, it was still a really fun day.

Tomorrow I have a doctor’s appointment to get my right ear checked. Even after taking antibiotics for a full week, the infection is still hanging around. Thankfully, my left ear seems to have improved quite a bit, so at least that’s moving in the right direction.

On Wednesday, I have my medication management appointment. Then on Friday, Tommy has the day off from work because he has a few appointments of his own. After those, we’re going to get my lab work done for my medication management. My appointment isn’t until 3:00 p.m., which means I have to fast until after three o’clock. That’s going to be rough. I know I’m going to be starving by the time I can finally eat.

I’ve spent a good chunk of the afternoon studying. I believe Tommy is on his way home now from work. We are going to watch the World Cup Soccer when he gets home. This will be a good game.
