Hello Thursday
I’ve been listening to the speakers on my computer lately instead of wearing my headphones. My hearing aids aren’t in, but I can still hear the speakers just fine. Karissa is deaf, so I don’t have to worry too much about how loud my computer is when she’s around. It really isn’t that loud anyway, or at least I don’t think it is. I like being able to listen to music and other things through the speakers without putting on my headphones. It feels a little more comfortable and relaxed that way.
My computer speakers actually sound pretty good to me. Then again, I probably aren’t the best person to judge the quality of speakers since I don’t have the best hearing. I don’t always notice the little differences in sound quality that someone with really good hearing might pick up on. But I like how my speakers sound.
It has been raining all day today. Merlin and Everest have been stuck inside, and they are definitely getting bored. I feel a little bad for them because I know they would much rather be outside exploring and doing their usual thing. Unfortunately, there isn’t much I can do about the rain.
I’ve been enjoying the rain. There is something really nice and peaceful about having rain outside all day. It makes everything feel quieter and slower. I made myself a cup of hot tea, cinnamon apple spice, and that made the whole rainy day feel even cozier.
Today is also laundry day, so I’ve been keeping busy washing clothes, towels, and bath mats. It’s not exactly the most exciting way to spend the day, but it feels good to get everything cleaned.
Yesterday, my throat was hurting, and I was trying to figure out why. I kept thinking about what could be causing it, and then it dawned on me: I haven’t taken my Omeprazole in a few days. Then I remembered why. I was out of it, and Tommy had already gotten more for me. The problem was that I never actually put it in my pill box.
I swear, I take better care of Tommy when it comes to his medication than I do myself. I know all of his medications. I know what he takes and when he takes it, and I even have everything written down in the Notes app on my phone so I can keep track of it. If something needs to be refilled or picked up, I’m usually thinking about it ahead of time.
But when it comes to me, I falter a little. For the most part, I am on top of my own medications. It’s not like I completely forget about them or don’t take them seriously. I have a routine, and most days I do just fine. But sometimes I forget the little things. Like making sure that everything I need has actually made it into my pill box.
And, of course, it doesn’t help that my pill box is broken. I really need to remedy that. I’ve been using a plastic bag to hold a day’s worth of my medicine. The funny thing is, if this were someone else, I would be much more proactive about it. If Tommy’s pill box were broken, I’d probably say, “Hey, we need to get you a new one. Let’s do that now.” I wouldn’t keep putting it off. I’d add it to the list, make sure it happened, and move on.
But when it comes to me, my attitude seems to be, “Oh, I’ll do that later.” And later has a funny way of becoming tomorrow, and then next week, and then somehow I’ve completely forgotten about it.
It also comes down to remembering that there’s something I need to remember in the first place. How many times have I been to Walmart since my pill box broke? Probably more than enough times to have picked up a new one. And yet, not once did I walk into Walmart and think, “Oh yeah, I need a new pill box.” I just don’t remember.
Maybe I really should put it in my Notes app. At least then I’d have somewhere to look when I’m making my lists or thinking about things I need. It’s funny that I have no problem keeping track of anyone else’s medications and appointments and everything. But taking care of myself? That’s harder to do.
So: new pill box. Put it in the Notes app. Actually buy it. Put the medications in it. Seems simple enough, right? Now I just have to make sure I actually do it.

Gosh, everyone is getting home late today.
I’m going to start dinner around 6 since Kel won’t be home until about 6:30. Tommy has practice tonight, so he’ll be getting his own dinner and will be home late. It’s one of those evenings where everyone seems to be on a different schedule.
Kel bought some chicken, potatoes, and Brussels sprouts, so I’m making air fryer chicken thighs tonight. Chicken, potatoes, and Brussels sprouts sounds pretty good to me. It should be a relatively easy dinner.
Right now, though, I’m reading Problematic Summer Romance. So far, so good.
I’m only about 10% into the book, so I still have quite a bit of it left, but I’m enjoying the buildup of the plot. I like when a book takes a little time to establish the characters and set everything up rather than immediately throwing you into the middle of the drama. So far, the pacing feels pretty good.
The characters are alright. There are already a few who are frustrating me a little, which I suppose is part of the experience. Sometimes the characters who annoy me the most are the ones I end up having the strongest reactions to, so I’m curious to see how they develop as the story goes on.
I want to finish reading this in the next few days. Then read the other book that came in from the library. Then start reading Dungeon Crawler Carl. I just learned this morning that I can have audio books on my Kindle and listen to them with my headphones. That’s why the Kindle has Bluetooth. That is so cool. I will have to try this out sometime.
Karissa sent in her graduation application today. So she will be graduating in December. Wow, I can’t believe she is graduating already. 0
For now, though, I have dinner to make and apparently a new pill box to remember to buy.
