Another rainy day
I’m kind of bummed today… not too much, but definitely a little. I found out that I didn’t get the job at Walmart. I had a feeling it might be a hard position to get because they were specifically looking for someone to work as a stocker, so I tried not to get my hopes up too much. Still, it’s disappointing when you put yourself out there and hope that something is going to work out.
The good thing is that they encouraged me to apply for other positions within the store, so I decided to take their advice and apply for some of those. I’m hoping that maybe one of those positions will be a better fit. I’m taking that as a positive sign that they were at least willing to suggest other opportunities rather than simply turning me away.
I’m also continuing to look for other jobs and applying to different places. I know finding the right job can take some time, and there are going to be disappointments along the way. I’m trying not to let this one get me down too much. It’s just one “no,” and I’m going to keep putting myself out there and seeing what comes along.
So, yeah, I’m a little disappointed today, but I’m not giving up. I’m still looking, still applying, and hopefully the right opportunity is going to come along.
It’s been raining all day, and apparently, the rain has decided it has absolutely nowhere else to be. It just keeps coming down. At this point, I’m starting to wonder if the clouds have forgotten how to turn the water off.
Merlin, surprisingly, seems completely unbothered by any of it. He has apparently decided that today is the perfect day to sleep in the girls’ room. Which is actually pretty weird because Merlin is usually the energetic, crazy one of the two. He’s normally the one looking for something to get into, causing trouble, or acting like he has an important appointment with chaos. But today? Nope. He’s sleeping. Peacefully. Like he has absolutely no responsibilities whatsoever.
Everest, on the other hand, has apparently declared war on the weather.
She is SO restless. She keeps wanting to go outside and play, as if she hasn’t noticed that it is pouring rain. I let them out for a little while so they can do their business and get some fresh air, but eventually, I have to call them back inside.
And, of course, they come back into the house soaked.
I’m not entirely sure what they are doing out there. They have plenty of room to take care of business without getting drenched, but apparently, that would be far too sensible. Instead, they seem to enjoy standing around in the rain and getting themselves as wet as possible. Then they come running back into the house looking like two furry mops, expecting me to be perfectly okay with this arrangement.
I know it’s frustrating for them to be stuck inside all day. They’re used to having the freedom to go outside, run around, sniff everything, investigate absolutely nothing, and generally act like they own the place. But with the weather starting to turn, I think they’re going to have to get used to spending more time indoors.
Merlin seems to have already figured this out. He’s apparently embracing the indoor lifestyle by taking a long nap and avoiding all unnecessary activity. Honestly, Merlin may have the right idea.
Everest, however, has not accepted the new indoor policy.
She seems to believe that if she stares at the door long enough, the rain will magically stop and I will eventually give in. Every few minutes, she looks at me as if she’s saying, “Okay, enough rain. Open the door now.” She’s been whining since I got home from Walmart.
I’m sure she’ll eventually realize that rainy days mean more time inside, but I have a feeling she’s going to make her objections very clear. Meanwhile, Merlin will probably be sleeping peacefully in the girls’ room, completely unaware that there is a weather-related crisis happening in the rest of the house.
As you can probably tell, I don’t have a whole lot of exciting news to report these days, unless you count job hunting and discussing the weather as thrilling entertainment. The job searching has been taking up a fair amount of my time and attention, although I’m still trying to stay patient and hopeful that the right opportunity will eventually come along.
Then there’s the rain. We’ve had enough of it lately that I’m starting to wonder if we accidentally moved somewhere that was supposed to be a rainforest. Naturally, the dogs have very strong opinions about the whole situation. They still expect to go outside whenever they feel like it; Mimi doesn’t care for the rain. The moment Mimi discovers that the ground is wet, suddenly she has very important business to conduct indoors. Apparently, getting her paws wet is where she draws the line.
So, between applying for jobs, watching the rain, and negotiating outdoor bathroom breaks with the dogs, life has been pretty exciting around here… if you have a very generous definition of the word “exciting.” Hopefully, something interesting will happen soon, because otherwise my next update may simply be, “Still looking for a job. Still raining. Dogs still refusing to cooperate.”
Oh, I also had my medication management appointment today. It was scheduled for about a half hour before my interview, so the timing wasn’t exactly ideal.
My appointment was outside Walmart. There’s a little awning right outside the front door where I was standing. When it was time for my appointment, I could hear the doctor perfectly, but for some reason, she couldn’t hear me. We tried to make it work, but eventually she suggested that she just call me on the phone instead. So that’s how I ended up having my appointment. Standing outside Walmart, talking to my doctor over the phone.
I mean, it worked, so I can’t really complain too much. It definitely wasn’t my ideal way of having a medication management appointment, but at least we were able to have the appointment and talk about everything we needed to.
There aren’t any changes to my medication right now, which is probably a good thing. She asked me how depressed and anxious I’ve been feeling. I’m not feeling depressed right now, which is good. I was definitely feeling anxious during the appointment, though, mostly because it was so close to my interview time. Knowing that I had an interview coming up probably didn’t help my nerves any.
We scheduled another medication management appointment for next month. And guess what I did? I double-booked myself. Well… not exactly. I do have a regular doctor’s appointment in the morning, and my medication management appointment isn’t until the afternoon, so technically they don’t overlap. But I still don’t really like having two appointments on the same day. It makes the whole day feel like it revolves around appointments.
But it should be alright. At least they’re spaced out, and I won’t have to worry about two appointments happening at the same time. I’ll just have to remember that I have a very appointment-heavy day coming up next month. Karissa has a cardiology appointment in a week or two? I forgot the date. But I want to call and confirm that because the appointment was made so long ago, and I haven’t heard anything from them. I want to make sure she still has the appointment.
I think we are having orange chicken tonight, but I need to confirm that. I will do that now and get the rice started.
