Hello, Monday

I have a job interview tomorrow. It’s for Walmart. I know, I know… but it’s a job, and I need it right now. I need something to get me back into a routine, to give me a reason to get up in the morning and get out of the house. I also need to keep working so I can keep my health insurance next year, which is another important reason I’m hoping this works out.

But honestly, I’m happy about it. Maybe more than I expected to be. There is something really nice about the idea of getting up, going somewhere, having something to do, and feeling like I’m contributing again. I miss that feeling. Even if it’s not necessarily my dream job, it would be a step forward, and right now, I think a step forward is exactly what I need.

I also have my medication management appointment tomorrow, just half an hour before my interview. I called this morning to see if I should reschedule it, but the closest appointment she could give me was next month. I decided to keep the appointment instead. She told me to let my doctor know that I have a job interview right afterward so we can keep the appointment from running too long. She also suggested that I do the appointment over the phone, which actually works out pretty well.

Tommy and Kel are going to drop me off at Walmart tomorrow morning on their way to work, so I’ll already be there for the interview. Depending on how everything works out, I may end up walking home afterward. I’m trying not to overthink everything and just take it one step at a time. Tomorrow will be busy, but hopefully it will also be the beginning of something good.

I’ve also started writing my Christmas cards. I’m really enjoying being able to take my time with them instead of trying to write everything all at once. I decided to start with the cards that are being mailed internationally. That way, hopefully, they’ll actually make it to their destinations by Christmas rather than arriving sometime in March, which has happened before.

I don’t understand why it sometimes takes so incredibly long to mail something outside the United States. You would think that, with everything we can do almost instantly these days, a Christmas card wouldn’t need a three-month vacation to get across a border. But apparently, sometimes that’s just how international mail works.

My weekend was relaxing. We stayed home. Watched football. Made Tommy’s and Kel’s lunches for the week. Then we had Tommy’s hockey game. It was a good game.

Karissa is sad. She was told by the school that she was ready for graduation, but when they did the review, it came down to needing 28 more credit hours. So, from what I understand, Karissa still needs 28 credits of upper-division coursework. That means she needs to take about five more junior- or senior-level classes to complete those credits. The specific classes don’t really matter because she has already completed all of her required courses and degree requirements. At this point, she just needs to reach the required 28 additional upper-division credits.

They told her that she is allowed to attend the graduation ceremony, but she would not actually receive her diploma yet because she hasn’t completed those remaining upper-division credits.

Karissa would rather wait and attend graduation when she has officially completed everything and can receive her diploma, rather than attend the ceremony now and have to wait for the diploma afterward. So she doesn’t want to participate in graduation until she has actually finished the remaining credits.

I’m not completely sure why they were telling her that she could graduate. Maybe they were saying that because she has already completed all of her required courses and degree requirements, so technically she has fulfilled everything except the remaining upper-division credit requirement. That may have caused some confusion about whether she is actually eligible to graduate now versus being eligible to participate in the ceremony. So, she still needs those 28 upper-division credits before she can officially complete her degree and receive her diploma.

That’s a bummer for her. I wish the advisor had told her that before. She had another appointment with her advisor today, who told her she needs those upper-division classes. That is crazy that she can take any class she wants, just as long as it’s a junior or senior class.

Ok, I just finished dinner. It’s now waiting for everyone to get home. I’m going to end this here. I’m hoping tomorrow goes well.
