Distractions
My UPS (uninterruptible power supply) shut off, so I turned it back on. When I went to power up my computer, I realized one of the wires connected to the power button had broken off. So now I can’t turn on my computer at all. I’m pretty bummed about it. I’m on my laptop for now, but it really sucks not having my main computer. I’m not sure whether to laugh or cry about it.
Last Friday, we stayed home and studied, and I got a lot done. I felt really good about it. On Saturday, we studied for a few hours but ended up getting distracted. That distraction lasted about an hour, and then we just gave up and played on our computers instead. As I mentioned before, distractions at home are no joke; they can completely derail your day if you’re not careful. But our distraction was a bit productive, so in a way, it worked out.
On Sunday, Tommy, Kel, and I went to the Celtic festival and watched a band called Ally the Piper. The girl’s name is Ally, and she plays the bagpipes. There are also two guitarists and a drummer. They were really good, and I had a lot of fun. I even bought a dress at the fair, an actual dress! Haha. I don’t usually wear dresses, but I really like this one. I’m planning to wear it on the formal night of the cruise, probably with some sandals.
Normally, I’m really careful about what sunscreen I use on my face because most of them make my eyes sting. But I didn’t bring my face sunscreen to the festival, so I used my body sunscreen instead since I needed to reapply. Bad idea. My eyes started stinging and watering almost immediately. Then my nose started running, like a full-on allergy attack. Lesson learned, I’m definitely bringing the right sunscreen next time. I washed my face when I got home, and after a few hours, I felt better. We had dinner, and later that night, Tommy and I headed out for his hockey game.
Now I’m watching some cybersecurity videos. I need to get started on quizzing myself in a bit. I’m just so bummed right now about my computer. It put a damper on my morning. But at least I have my laptop.
I have Everest today. She is pretty energetic this morning. It’s almost lunchtime. I’m thinking of some leftover turkey we had last night and some eggs. Maybe toast too.
I finally got around to lunch. About an hour and a half later than planned. Before that, I helped Karissa fill out an application for a passport book. She already has a card, but it made sense to get the book too, so we tackled that together. It ended up taking close to an hour.
In between, I had to take Everest out a few times. I only let her stay out for a few minutes at a time because she’ll try to escape if she’s out any longer. After all that, I finally sat down to eat.
Then I called the ENT clinic because my prescription still hasn’t been sent to Walmart. I need those ear drops, so that was a bit frustrating. It took some navigating just to figure out how to get the message to the right place, but they said they’ll pass it along to the clinic and the doctor and call me back once it’s been sent in.
Now I should probably get back to studying. I’ve also got laundry going; usually, Karissa helps by moving things between the washer and dryer, but she’s busy with school right now, so I handled it myself this time. Heh.
I’m so distracted today. But I did manage to watch some cybersecurity videos.
Tomorrow I have a video appointment with my sleep doctor. I’m still snoring right when I fall asleep, but once the CPAP really kicks in, the snoring stops, so I guess that’s a good sign. I also have therapy in the afternoon, so it’ll be another somewhat distracted day.
It’s probably going to be the same on Wednesday. Karissa and I have to take a bus for over an hour to another city for her jury duty, so I’m not sure how much studying I’ll realistically get done.
For now, I’m going to keep working through my cybersecurity videos and then figure out dinner timing. I know we’re having sausages and sauerkraut, maybe I’ll have Karissa make some rice, and I’m pretty sure we’ve got some vegetables I can cook too.
